ACA Subsidies Pay Some or All of Your Premium for You (if You Qualify)

admin | Affordable Care Act / Obamacare

When purchasing an Obamacare / ACA plan, you may qualify for a federal subsidy to help pay for it.  Through a tax credit called the Advance Premium Tax Credit, the subsidy amount will be deducted from your monthly health insurance premium immediately, so that you pay the lower cost from the start.

Whether you qualify for a subsidy, and how much the subsidy will be, are based on your family size and family income.  Below are the income ranges and family sizes that will qualify for a subsidy in 2013:  The lower your income within these ranges, the higher the subsidy you’ll receive (and the lower your insurance premium will be).

  • $11,490 to $45,960 for individuals
  • $15,510 to $62,040 for a family of 2
  • $19,530 to $78,120 for a family of 3
  • $23,550 to $94,200 for a family of 4
  • $27,570 to $110,280 for a family of 5
  • $31,590 to $126,360 for a family of 6
  • $35,610 to $142,440 for a family of 7
  • $39,630 to $158,520 for a family of 8

AXS Health agents, who are not only ACA-Certified but are licensed as well, are prepared to help you compare the health insurance plans available, determine the subsidy amount for which you qualify, and calculate your resulting monthly premium.
