Why Should your Business provide Group Health Insurance?

It is a fact that over 60% of the individuals in the United States who have health insurance are enrolled through a group health insurance policy. Most of these individuals are covered by a group health insurance policy held by their employer. It has been a consistent trend with employers to offer some sort of health care coverage for its employees as an incentive, but are their benefits to offering it and is it a problem if you don’t?

Group health insurance serves as a selling point for many employers who offer it because with the rising costs of health care and medical bills, people are simply trying to find some assistance. Companies that offer a group health insurance to their employees, coupled with other benefits to working for their company shows the employee that this company cares about you and wants you to be healthy as well.

On the other hand, it is much more difficult for a company to recruit future employees without the benefit of offering a group health package. As stated before, people would really like to see that a company is trying to help them outside of work for a paycheck. On top of that, it does not serve as just an expense for the employer because although there is a large percentage of people who are enrolled in group health insurance plans with their employers, many people who are offered the insurance choose not to use it. This gives an added incentive for employers because they do not have to pay for benefits that are not being used.

Granted, it is not imperative that a company offer group health coverage, but in order to stay current with the trends of other companies it would be a great consideration. Putting it simply, health care is a topic of importance right now and is not showing any signs of it not being an issue of importance for years to come. Make sure you are making the right decisions that will help to benefit someone else as it pertains to the offering of health care at your place of business.
